Dear Fellow Democrat,

Hope you had blessed celebrations and most importantly, are all staying safe and healthy in these times of  uncertainty, anxiety and unprecedented challenge for us all.  Politics and elections, for sure, have not been on the forefront of our attentions.  While our primary focus must remain on maintaining health and on our families and communities, we will work through this together to a better sunnier albeit different place.  And our commitment to change in November, for the sake of our values and institutions, our culture and acceptable societal practices, as well as our basic health and safety, must remain unshakable.

A few updates on the political, electoral front.

SAVE THE NEW DATE for the Mercer County Democratic Committee Mercer’s Rising Stars,” on Wednesday, October 14 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at John Henry’s Stone Terrace, 2275 Kuser, Hamilton 08690.  We will honor and celebrate our 2020 Rising Stars, as we countdown to our November victories.  The strength of the Democratic Party in Mercer County is built on the hopes, dreams and actions of our Party’s Rising Stars who personify the future of our party.

The PRIMARY ELECTION has been moved by the Governor’s Executive Order No. 120, from Tuesday, June 2 to Tuesday, July 7.  All existing election deadlines will remain calculated from the new date.  No decisions have been made yet as to whether it will be in person voting or all vote by mail.

The DEMOCRATIC NATIONAL CONVENTION has been moved from the week of July 13 to the week of August 17, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to come together in unity to nominate Vice President Joe Biden for President.

We have much work to do in our communities and for our future.  Stay strong and hopeful!

Sincerely,

Mayor Janice S. Mironov
