Dear Fellow Democrat,

The Mercer County Democratic Endorsement Convention will take place on Wednesday, March 4 at the Windsor  Athletic Club, 99 Clarksville Road, West Windsor.   A NOTICE is being sent to voting delegates.  While only qualified delegates can vote, Everyone is Welcome to Attend!

Registration will begin at 5 p.m.  Food, sponsored by county candidates, will be available, and the presidential candidates have been invited to sponsor information tables.

The Convention will be gaveled to order at 6:15 p.m.PROMPTLY.

The following individuals have filed letters of interest and deemed Qualified Candidates for endorsement by the Convention Committee, with no opposing candidate:

U.S. Senate:  Corey Booker
Congress, D12:  Bonnie Watson Coleman
Sheriff:  Jack Kemler
County Clerk:  Paula Sollami-Covello
Freeholder:  John Cimino
Freeholder :  Lucylle Walter

For Congress, D4, three candidates have filed for endorsement:  David Applefield, Christine Conforti, and Stephanie Schmidt.  A vote will take place pursuant to the MCDC rules.  ONLY voting delegates who reside in Hamilton and Robbinsville can vote.

For President, after widely soliciting input from county Democrats, the Convention Committee has determined to hold a Straw Poll, whereby voting delegates will be asked to rank their presidential choices.  Princeton Democrats have generously offered their system to efficiently process the vote.  The purpose of the Straw Poll is to generate engagement, take the temperature on that evening and have some fun.  Mercer County is not endorsing for President, and this activity does not constitute in any way an endorsement.

Thank you to the Convention Committee, our municipal and county leadership and volunteers for all of your help and support, much appreciated.  We look forward to a super Convention, and Mercer County Democrats will go forward united toward our all-important November election goals!

Dear Fellow Democrat,

CALENDAR: The Mercer County Democratic Endorsement Convention will take place on Wednesday, March 4th at the Windsor Athletic Club, 99 Clarksville Road, West Windsor, likely with registration commencing at 5:30pm.

We have elections for President, U.S. Senate, and U.S. Congress (12th and 4th districts), plus Mercer County races for County Sheriff, County Clerk, and two Freeholder positions. I would request that anyone wishing to be considered for endorsement for office, please send me an email by Saturday, February 15, at, expressing your interest, all of your contact information (name, home address, email, phone numbers), and relevant information about yourself and your candidacy.

I have requested and Don Dileo has graciously agreed to serve as Convention Committee Chairperson. I will be designating the remainder of the Committee, which reviews the delegate list and any challenges or related issues, so as to provide wide municipal representation.

Note that the MCDC Bylaws contains a list of Democratic Organizations which can have a delegate, as well as a process set forth for currently non-represented organizations, The MCDC Bylaws can be accessed at

We also need to decide how to handle the Presidential race at our Convention. Options include: a formal County Democratic endorsement, conducting a straw poll, hearing from candidate representatives and/or having an uplifting keynote speaker on the importance of the 2020 national races. Much interesting and helpful feedback received thus far, and welcome any further comments and ideas.

As we view the perplexing Presidential impeachment process and Democrats’ formal kickoff in Iowa, we all need to focus on our number one responsibility as Americans: to ensure the election of a new President and partner with a working Congress. Let’s go do it!
