Dear Fellow Democrat, Mercer County Democrats are deeply saddened by the passing of our Lt. Governor Sheila Oliver, a barrier-breaking pioneer for Black women and a passionate voice of advocacy to better the lives of people in our communities. We send our deepest condolences to the family of Lt Governor Oliver during this time of mourning. We were proud in Mercer County to know her as a friend and to remember upon becoming Chair, she headlined our first “Blue Wave” GOTV event at the Mercer Boathouse, a rousing uplifting night. Lt. Oliver was a stand-up person for her friends and for those causes which she championed. Lt. Governor Oliver served over decades in many public service positions as she ascended to become Speaker of the NJ Assembly and then our State’s Lt. Governor. Lt. Governor Oliver leaves a proud legacy of accomplishment which serves as a model and inspiration for citizens of our State. We remember her fondly and honor her classy style, personal tenacity and core values and meaningful life of service. Sincerely, Mayor Janice Mironov Mercer County Democratic Chairperson
